Transitioning from Heating to Cooling: Spring HVAC System Tips

Transitioning from Heating to Cooling: Spring HVAC System Tips

As winter bids farewell and spring emerges, it's time to transition your HVAC system from heating to cooling mode. This shift requires careful attention to ensure optimal performance and efficiency as temperatures rise. Here are some spring HVAC system tips to help you breeze through the seasonal transition.

Firstly, schedule a comprehensive HVAC inspection and maintenance service with professionals like A-Plus Quality. This ensures that your system is in top condition after the heavy workload of winter and prepares it for the demands of cooling season. Technicians can clean components, check for leaks, lubricate moving parts, and calibrate settings to maximize efficiency.

Next, replace air filters regularly to maintain good indoor air quality and prevent strain on your HVAC system. Clogged filters restrict airflow, reducing efficiency and potentially leading to costly repairs. Spring is an ideal time to start with a fresh filter to capture dust, pollen, and other allergens as they become more prevalent.

Check your thermostat settings to switch from heating to cooling mode, adjusting temperatures to suit the changing weather. Consider investing in a programmable thermostat or smart thermostat for greater control and energy savings. Programming your thermostat to raise the temperature when you're away can help reduce energy consumption without sacrificing comfort.

Inspect outdoor units for any debris or obstructions that may have accumulated over the winter months. Clear away leaves, branches, and other debris to ensure proper airflow and prevent damage to the unit. Trim back vegetation to maintain adequate clearance around the unit for optimal performance.

By following these spring HVAC system tips and enlisting the expertise of professionals like A-Plus Quality, you can ensure a seamless transition from heating to cooling, keeping your home comfortable and energy-efficient as the seasons change.

FAQ

  • How do I know what size unit I need?
If you have any problems with your system, you should contact the contractor who installed the units. All our systems are covered by a 5 year parts, 7 year compressor limited warranty

  • Why is there ice building up on the copper pipes?

There can be many reasons why the refrigerant pipes are freezing up but the most common issue is low refrigerant levels. If your AC unit has ice buildup turn off the unit for at least 4 hours and call us at 416-410-0337

  • Furnace is blowing cold air in Winter?

This can be due to Ignition lockout, sometimes could be resolved by resetting the power  and if this does not resolve the issue you should contact a certified gas technician from A-Plus Quality to get this problem resolved!

  • Why should I maintain my Furnace or AC?

An annual maintenance will extend the lifetime of your heating and cooling unit. The technician will diagnose and repair any problem with the unit before it fails, so you won't need to worry about any problems when the weather gets very hot in the summer or extremely cold in the winter.

  • What is a heat pump?

Heat pumps use electricity to move heat from a cool space to a warm space, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer. During the heating season, heat pumps move heat from the cool outdoors into your warm house and during the cooling season, heat pumps move heat from your cool house into the warm outdoors. Because they move heat rather than generate heat, heat pumps can provide equivalent space conditioning at as little as one quarter of the cost of operating conventional heating or cooling appliances.
